There are three large peaks around -40, 10, and 70 degrees, and two smaller peaks around -20 and 30 degrees. These peaks seem to align with the equatorial jet stream, subtropical jet streams, and the polar jet streams, however; these jet streams appear at 0, 30, and 60 degrees respectively. The discrepancy in latitudinal location of the jet streams can be explained by the date of observation. During the northern hemisphere's summer the jet streams shift north. Another contributing factor is the shape of the jet streams. A jet stream does not follow a circular path around the globe, rather it moves in a sinusoidal fashion creating a wave circular pattern. A larger sample of cities could diminish the variance contributed by the shape of the jet stream.
